Clearances shall be maintained around boilers generators heaters tanks and related equipment and appliances so as to permit inspection servicing repair replacement and visibility of all gauges.
The Commissioner his agents or special inspectors shall have free access during reasonable hours to any premises in the Commonwealth where a boiler or pressure vessel is being constructed operated or maintained or is being installed to conduct a variance review an owner-user inspection agency audit an emergency repair review an accident investigation a violation follow-up and a secondhand or used
When boilers are installed or replaced clearance shall be provided to allow access for inspection maintenance and repair. Passageways around all sides of boilers shall have an unobstructed width of not less than 18 inches (457 mm) unless otherwise approved .
Welded repairs to boilers shall be performed by a contractor possessing a valid National Board repair authorization or New Jersey repair authorization. (c) The ASME Code validity of piping repairs shall be maintained to the boundaries defined in Section I Power Boilers for high pressure boilers and to the required stop valve connection for low pressure heating boilers.
(b) Welded and riveted repairs to unstayed portions of the boiler. Whenever welded or riveted repairs are performed on unstayed portions of a steam locomotive boiler the steam locomotive owner and/or operator shall file with the FRA Regional Administrator within 30 days from the time the work was completed a repair report FRA Form No. 19 that details the work done to the steam locomotive.
2. The API 510-2003 Code shall not be used for the repair of boilers and pressure vessels as follows: a. Boilers and fired pressure vessels as defined in the Boiler and Fired Pressure Vessel Safety Orders; b. Vessels as defined in the Unfired Pressure Vessel Safety Orders Section 460;
(A) Plugging boiler tubes that are adjacent to another plugged boiler tube is prohibited. (B) No more than 10% of the total number of boiler tubes shall be plugged. (C) All non-expanded boiler tube plugs shall be welded into place. (D) All plugged boiler tubes shall be replaced prior to
